“We are really pleased to be supporting the Sara Lee Trust, who provide incredible support to people at what must be a scary and frightening time for them. Cancer and serious illness affect so many people, we wanted to do something to help. All the team at PCM are very grateful to local people for trusting us to sell their houses, and we wanted to give something back to the community."

PCM and Charity for Kids

Charity for Kids

PCM make a regular monthly donation to the Trust.

Making a difference

Charity for Kids was established in 2011 to provide help for disabled, sick and terminally ill children – and their families – across Hastings & Rother. They help children and their families with specialised equipment that is either not available via the health services or comes with a very high costs, which is not always possible.

Get Involved

They raise money by doing lots of regular events – including Channel relay swims, cycle rides across Europe, carnivals, summer fetes and even packing shopping bags at local supermarkets. If you would like to put yourself through one of their regular challenges to help raise money – or have your own ideas – you would be most welcome to join them. Please get in touch with them

Donate today

Charity For Kids is run entirely by volunteers, so if you would like to contribute and feel you could make a difference, please get in touch, they would love to hear from you.

“Charity for Kids is an organisation providing help to local children and their families in need of specialised equipment that is either not available via the health services or comes with a very high costs, which is not always possible. We are extremely pleased to be able to support such an incredible charity and want to thank the general public for trusting PCM to sell their homes, as without you we wouldn’t be able to make such monthly donations. It is important for us to give back to the community and we are very honoured to be working alongside Charity for Kids."

A note from Paul Harris
Founder of Charity for Kids

So where did Charity For Kids come from? I stopped playing football when my 1st daughter was born and over the following 8 years period I put on a lot of weight. I tried the gym but lost interest. I wanted to make a commitment to lose the weight so I entered the Hastings Half Marathon and to help stay motivated I thought I would raise funds for a charity as this would give me the nudge I needed when it was dark, cold and raining. I wanted to support a local charity, ideally one that helped local children.

My wife and I are fortunate to have 3 healthy girls, so I wanted to help those less fortunate than us and I also wanted to keep the funds local. After looking around there wasn’t anything specific that jumped out. So, I had a conversation with my wife, the same with a friend, then shortly after Charity For Kids was born.

Now in 2017, our team of fantastic volunteers give up their time to help and we would love to welcome you too. So if you feel you can contribute and make a difference, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you. Thanks. Paul.

PCM and Chestnut Tree House

Chestnut Tree House

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for Sussex and South East Hampshire. Thanks to support from the local community, children and families who know they don’t have long together have the chance to live life to the full and say goodbye in the way that is right for them.

On a visit to Chestnut Tree House, kids can be astronauts for the day in the multi-sensory room, discover creepy crawlies on a woodland walk, or form their very own pop group in the music room. It is a place where parents can just be parents, and not carers, and where siblings have people to talk to who understand.

As well as care provided at the House, nurses visit families at home, taking children out to explore their local community or simply giving tired families and carers the chance to take a well-earned break.

Then, when the time comes, Chestnut Tree House helps families say goodbye, in whatever way feels right for them, at home or in the hospice itself. They offer ongoing bereavement support for the whole family.

The generosity of the local community makes this happen. Very little of the £4.6 million needed every year to provide hospice care for local children comes from central government. The rest comes from fundraising, gifts in wills, shops, the Chestnut Tree House lottery and volunteering.

PCM and HY Runners.

HY Runners

"We are so pleased to be supporting HY Runners with this initiative to help local Children to train for free! We think it is a great thing to do and hope that many local children take advantage of this and benefit from the training and the confidence it can bring. HY Runners also help raise money for other great local causes including St Michaels Hospice."

"All the team at PCM are very grateful to local people for trusting us to sell their homes and are pleased that this is one more thing we can do to give back to the community."
